Topics this advisor covers

These are the conversation topics your advisor typically covers. Come ready to ask specific questions about the one that fits your appointment.

Review your scholarship application
Bring your scholarship application to your appointment and get feedback for making it stand out. Jon awarded $3.4 million in college scholarships, so he knows what application reviewers want to see.
Review your transcript or class schedule
Find out if your high school classes fulfill the "A-G requirements." Without the A-G requirements, you cannot attend University of California (UC) or California State University (CSU).
Review your extracurricular activities
If you are aiming for admission at a competitive college, you'll need extracurricular activities that stand out. Bring a list of your current activities.
Plan out your standardized tests
Create a solid plan for taking your standardized tests, like PSAT, SAT, and AP exams.

Why I do this I'm a former college counselor. I awarded $3.4 million in college scholarships as VP of a private foundation, and hundreds of my students graduated debt-free. I know what it's like to overpay for college When I went to NYU, I didn't receive financial aid. I won a few small scholarships, but took out student loans to cover the rest. I'm still paying off that debt. Then I became a college counselor — and learned how to hack the system. I founded College Price Check so you can avoid overpaying for college. Let me help you. I've been at this for a while Before College Price Check, I was already building tools to make college more accessible. In 2024, I won 1st Place at the ASU-GSV Summit for building an AI college counselor. Where I went to college I earned my bachelor's degree in education and my New York State teaching credential from New York University. I went on to study at Teachers College, Columbia University. What I do for fun I swim a few days a week. When I'm not in the water, I'm running along the San Pablo Bay, singing in a choir, or walking my golden doodle.
